Welcome to Just a Fan. As you may or may not have wondered, the site’s name is inspired by the Wilco song “The Lonely 1.” This blog is for essays on favorite songs, artists and/or albums. I hope to update this blog every monday. However, this site not just for me.  

I’ve decided that this blog should not be just my musings on what I’m listening to because such practice seems too masturbatory and self-indulgent. My only requirements for publication on this blog are that it either makes me laugh, cry or listen to the song or songs mentioned. Please submit your essays to justafan@tandrew.com in an email with submission as the subject. I do request that you allow your name to be attached to the essay and that no specific people other than the artist are mentioned. If you would like to publish anonymously please let me know. 

Anyway, this blog was inspired by a Mcsweeney’s feature: Short Essays on Favorite Songs, Inspired by Nick Hornby’s Songbook. I hope you find the essays not terrible and not trite, although that seems doubtful.
